I am the first to wake up. It is 2.30am. The three of us must have fallen asleep on the sofa with the CNN channel still reporting about what is going on in the Gadafi's land. We must have been very tired! Must be. How else could three guys who are full of life, and full of good food dozed off in awkward postures while in full conversation. Mat Ju and Zainal must have left when we stopped responding to what they were saying.
The Budu Effect~! Pengsan wa cakap lu...hahaha. |
The last sentence I remember saying is, "I know....~!"
I couldn't even remember what I was responding to! So often when I found myself not paying attention but a responce is expected, I would blurt out something like, "I know.." or "Yea, so true!", or "I Understand.."
The fact is, "No, I don't know. No, I don't understand! I just want to sleep!" hahaha
I sit upright and just spend a good few minutes looking at Mr Z and Mr B. Between the two of them, there is an exchange of snoring, melodious and in harmony. I chuckles at myself for having broken what must have been a perfect group performance of a trio, something like the Bee Gees.
The three of us share a four bedroom villa whenever we visit the farm. Although the management mass prepare and serve lunches and dinners for free, we have grown bored of the same menu and have taken our meals into our own hands. Literally. We cook! Since all three of us have spent our youth studying in the UK, we become adapt to cooking! In fact, Mr Z is very good at it.
Tonight's menu is a good variety of Beef stew, Omellette, Fried salted fish with chillies, Sambal Sardine, and satey (which Mr B had broughy from Malaysia when he went back for vacation recently).
I log on to write an entry about us, Malaysians spending time away from our beloved ones and away from Malaysia, and living the life like we used to once upon a time when we were students.

Just like the students days... the longing for our family is always at the back of our mind and roots deep within our heart, yet we live the day-to-day happily, optimistically and full of zest.
It is a life which is hard to explain! It is a life, difficult to replicate anywhere else, but here! Looking at Mr Z and Mr B sprawling with their eyes shut and their mouth opened, I could not help but think silently...we are more than just friends.
The food we cook is always delicious, no matter what we put or not put into the pot and pans. We always manage to wipe our plate clean. We can repeat the jokes over and over, and they never sound stale. I can't imagine matured men touching their fifties being so at ease sharing a confined living space. No ego, no competition, not territorial! What we have in abundance is mutual respect and simple appreciation for each other's presence. A feeling that we belong!
Perhaps, this is what brotherhood is all about!
Budu with satey. omellette? hehe love budu too!
