Friday 13th May ~! With friends ...

Living abroad makes us appreciate friendship amongst Malaysians. Having been in the Middle East for nearly nine years now, my wife and I have always enjoyed having friends over to our home - for sembang2 and makan2. As long as our friends do not mind our 'sempoi and informal way', we are only too happy to welcome them. At our house, there are no protocols - our guests are treated as brothers and sisters.  (A few pictures below)

Lunch selepas solat Jumaat 13hb Mei, Menu selera kampung. Mamasita (purple scarf) tetamu istimewa dari Mekah, kebetulan beliau datang mengerjakan Umrah. Mamasita mencuba air 'Saudi Champagne' risipi istimewa Puan Rumah.
Mangkok sambal belacan sudah di booking oleh Haji Kamel dan Zarir, sementara Zainal Chop kerusi di depan Kerapu bakar 3 rasa. Zuraimi menjadi photographer.

Begitulah agaknya kata Zuraimi membuat isteri ku tersenyum!

If you are happy and you know it...you may doze off! hehehe. Zainal kekenyangan after lunch having a power nap! Kami suka apabila tetamu juga sempoi - rasa ngantuk, okey jer tidor~! Di bawah, Zuraimi juga merehatkan mata...rupa2nya tadi tu dia minta kerusi sandar tu dari Puan Aishah! Pandai dia mengecek kerusi empuk itu....hehehe~!

 I am lucky in that my wife too enjoy having friends over!


We lead a simple life, therefore we enjoy the company of like-minded  people. As a result, we tend to keep a small circle of friends who we know can accept us for who we are, and who do not spend much of their time talking negatively about others or themselves. We go to great pain trying to avoid making our house a center of sinful fitnah dan umpat mengumpat. We also prefer positive energy~!

We believe that friends do not have to prove anything to each other, and true friends don't compete. So we try to keep our distance from competitive and ego centric people. I once had a friend over who pointed out that my car was not reflective of my stature. He suggested that I should be driving a more expensive and exclusive car. Hahaha. Next time, if we must meet, I will invite him for lunch or dinner at a restaurant~! At least at the car park, I can point to any Porsche as mine, if that is what it takes to please him!

Since we are so casual in our approach, we know we can't be a good host to 'formal and proper' people who can't stand to see glasses of different shapes and sizes being used, or that our forks and spoons are of different designs and made! That is another reason we prefer to keep frienship with like-minded people - easy going, and accepting.

Enough said.

Today, we enjoyed our gathering of 'sembang2 and  makan2' amongst friends. Thank you to everyone of our guests - Mamasita for taking time from her Umrah schedule, and thank you to our 'Ladang Udang' friends. We enjoyed our Friday, May13th! We hope you did too.
