By and large though, we can assume that our modern day civilization thrives on the fundamental of individuals exercising some level of self-control. In my view, one of the differences between human and animals is this very fact! Human has the ability to think, to differentiate right from wrong, and will in his/her normal circumstances always choose what he/ she thinks is the right option.
1. In a relationship, the situation can only be improved by fixing oneself, NOT the other person.
2. Before we can be capable of loving others, we need to first of all, love ourselves. The same if we want others to love us, we must be very comfortable to be within our own skin.
3. If in our view we want the other person to change, then we need to nudge him / her into changing by modifying our own action in a way it will motivate the other person to change the way we want.
4. If the other person does not see any need to change despite our best effort, then it is again back to us to control our own well-being - we can be in total control of how we feel.
5. "Be the change you want to see!" Said Mahatma Gandhi. So true! I will do a minor modification by saying, "Be the person we want to be~!"
What do you want to be...? Believing that we can only CONTROL ourselves, answering this question and the two below is therefore very important~!
....Known as while you continue living....By your spouse, children, family and friends / and by people you come into contact with at work and in social circles?
> For me: I want to be known as someone who is kind hearted, good natured, and who makes a positive difference to others, and one who contributes in my own small ways to make this world a better place~!
.....After your death? What legacies are you working on to leave behind?
